I don’t know about you, but I am trying to make the most out of this years ‘summer’. Typical England has once again shown us that we get around a weeks worth of sunshine until the grey clouds start to form again and it downpours for the rest of August (great). I am trying not to let the weather dampen my summer style.
This dress gives me total Wizard of Oz Dorothy vibes, don’t you think? Gingham has always been a trend I have been extremely fond of, even though it does remind me of my primary school uniform. I realised around June time when the summer season was starting to creep up on us that I was lacking in the ‘summer dress’ department. So, me being me, I headed over to Asos, as they stock E V E R Y T H I N G, and was rapidly searching through the dress section. This piece was a very different addition to my wardrobe, I never thought I would suit a wrap style dress before, but the more I wear it the more I love it!! The floaty sleeves and elegant V neck cut makes the dress feel very current and can either be dressed up or down with the right accessories. I always seem to go for the ‘skater’ length dresses, I personally feel long dresses don’t tend to suit me as much as shorter ones as I do have extremely long legs, so why not get them out every once in a while.
The lightweight woven fabric makes it perfect for the warmer months and so comfortable to wear, what I like about it the most is the fabric isn’t too thin to be see-through which is always a big bonus in my books. The self tie waist did come with a blue plaid fabric belt however, I felt my own belt made the outfit feel a lot more sassier and was more flattering on my figure.
Of course the perfect summer dress isn’t complete without accessories. I paired this with my staple Gucci belt which I have recently been gifted and have been wearing with everything!! I find it so versatile and just pulls any outfit together. Comfort it key with me, so Converse had to come into play, they are my go to shoes as again, they go with almost every outfit you could imagine. One of my favourite styles is skater dresses and converse and has been since I was around 10, so they had to be paired together.
Another recent purchase is this gorgeous pink chain bag, which reminds of me the new in Gucci bags, so I think it works as a great dupe!! I have been wanting a chain bag for a while now, there is something about them which looks so classy and sophisticated. I absolutely adore the snake like metal ring on the front of the bag as well. It is the perfect size to keep all your bits and bobs in for the day and I love the clash of blue and pink in the outfit.
Sunglasses, not that you will need them, make a great hair accessory. Once again, being in England it is very rare you will actually need to wear your sunglasses so I always keep them on my head, plus they are great for keeping your hair out your face!! I am in love with these turtle shell glasses from Guess, I have always stuck to plain sunglasses but I am slowly falling in love with the pattern on these, and the gold metal hardware is just beautiful.

I love small gingham prints, think I’d only be able to wear black/gray tones as I wore blue for my primary school haha
